Nowadays, English language had been widely spread throughout the world. Many countries had adopted English as their first language for example, Singapore. In Singapore's education system, all the subjects except for Mother Tongue are taught using English. As most of the parents in this few years speak English to their children at home, Mother Tongue can be said to be neglected by the family compared to English. This might because parents knew that in Singapore, more and more people world-wide use English to communicate. Thus by letting their children to live in an English-speaking family, it would be an advantage.
In the business world, English is the most common language used compared to the others. Most of the writing formats and methods from English are also being strictly followed by the world. This shows us how powerful and influential English is to the world. English language had also been recognised as an international language to use. More people start to believe that it would be a privilege to them if they had mastered English language.
For example, the Olympics Games 2008 held in Beijing. This event alarmed the Chinese government to train their citizens to be more international. In order for their people to be able to respond to the overwhelmed Foreigners during the Olympics Games 2008 well. A taxi driver will have to learn basic English to be able to communicate and understand what their passenger are saying. Many sign boards in China had also been replaced with both Chinese and English Language. A higher quality of communication and educational level will assist the Chinese to be in good terms with Foreigners. This will eventually leads to a higher level of tourism rate and country will thus prosper.
From the above examples, it is rather obvious that English Language had influenced human being tremendously. Without English, the world might not be as globalised as people will be still using their own language and not able to understand people from around the world. Overall, English had been a great tools for human beings to communicate and learn new things.
