Internet is so common these days. In this fast moving world if you do not know how to use the internet you would at a disadvantage. As some of the services has also been moved online; such as online booking and banking. Teens now days are using the internet as a source of information, gaming, and entertainment. Most of the teen does not know what cyber wellness is.
Most people know how to download music and game from internet for free. But this action is against the copyright laws. If caught they could be fined heavily.
Porn website can also be found on the internet, and sometimes when teen came across these webs they might be addicted to it. Internet also contain harmful website where there are virus that invaded the computer stealing or destroying valuable information. Cyber bully is also a trend that is increasing rapidly during the past few years.
When teens are survey on whether they know about what cyber wellness is, most answers are “no” Thus there is a need for schools to conduct lessons to educate the teens on cyber wellness.
Cyber wellness should not only cover the above few points. It should also include the amount of hours spent using the internet per week. The lesson should aim to teach the teen how to protect their information carefully and use the internet filter to prevent harmful or suspicious website from appearing at their search results.
