This article gives us more information on what is happening to the marine life. Large percentages of people are not aware of what is going on in the marine life. Not like global warming, whereby people can feel the warm weather and recognise this issue, issues happening with the marine life are not known to the people immediately. Therefore, it is important to create more awareness by publishing reports in newspapers or reporting it in the news.
Fishes do play a very important role in the lives of people as they are consumed by humans for important nutrition such as omega 3. As stated from the source “One billion people, mostly from poorer countries, rely on fish as their main animal protein source, according to the UN”, this shows that fishes provides people with the necessary nutrients to live healthily. In this case, large amount of fishes are indeed required for these people.
Also, “The Green Economy report estimates there are 35 million people fishing around the world on 20 million boats. About 170 million jobs depend directly or indirectly on the sector, bringing the total web of people financially linked to 520 million.” Any drastic decisions implemented could affect the lives of people and the economy.
As the article states that fishes could disappear in 40 years, it is necessary for people to think carefully as to what they could do to help the environment as there is indeed a large demand for fishes.
People can contribute to the marine life by not polluting the sea. Dumping of litter in the ocean or sea can affect the fishes, resulting to death. Oils spills are another cause of water pollution. It is important for people to make sure that they do not spill a huge quantity of oil into the ocean or sea. People are able to play a part for the environment. This will decrease the amount of harm caused to the marine animals.
