Lowering the Mother tongue standard will indeed lighten some burden on the students,who are taking PSLE.Thus they are able to focus better in other subjects such as English science and maths,and score well for their PSLE.It will definetly help those who came from a english-speaking background and struggling with their Mother Tongue.

However,Mother Tongue remind us where our ancestor came from ,since Singapore is a multi race country.Mother Tongue is like a form of identity to differentitate each race suchs as;chinese speak mandarin;India speak Tamil or Hindi ;Malay speak Malay .

We are now living in a globalsing world,knowing one more language will definetly help the youth in the long round when they go out to work in the future.One example,why we should not lower the mother tongue standard is that China and India is slowly catching up with USA.Many of the transnational Campanies are setting up factory and plants there due to its cheap Labour.
